First steps

Xander officially took his first steps tonight. We were all playing in the "Big room" just before bed time then all of a sudden Xander stood up all on his own in the middle of the room and took 2 steps. Then not too long after that he took 5 steps all on his own. He was very excited and we all cheered for him. Our little guy is taking steps now....

11 months old

Xander turned 11 months old today. Just around the bend now is the big 01. Holy Moly, how crazy is that. The little guy is doing great. He is a regular monkey and just loves to climb on anything and everything, boxes, stairs, play kitchens and Mommy's of course. today at the park he had a great time scrambling around on the play equipment while big sister played with her buddy Fintan. He is still getting used to being left at the gym daycare and his record as of this week is 30 minutes. They usually have to come and get me because he won't stop crying, poor little guy. He is always chatting nowadays and his favorite phrase is ah daaaaah. He says it all the time and it generally sounds like a war cry, but it is so cute. When he gets really happy he loves to bounce up and down while kneeling and squealing. He gets some major air sometimes. He loves Aisling so much. The second I put him on the floor in the morning, he makes a bee line to her room. He loves to jump on her and they like to play together. He has had nothing but people food for this entire week, no purees at all. So far he has eaten nearly everything I put in front of him. He eats a ton too, more than Ais at the majority of the meals. It is so nice to have a non-picky baby who will eat bread (something Ais still doesn't like). His favorites at the moment are banana, cheese, avocado, pancakes, french toast, turkey, pasta, mac and cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches, all delivered in teeny cut up pieces. I know he will probably become more finicky later in his toddlerhood, but for now I am enjoying an easy to please eater. He is getting close to walking as well. He can travel between furniture and tries to brave it on his own, but usually crashes after one or two steps. And last but not least yesterday he started giving kisses. So Sweet. He does it on command now too and it is just the best.

Not to be outdone by her little brother, Aisling has made some big achievements as well. She has gone an entire week in big girl undies even out in the real world with no accidents. Yay!!!!! Earlier this week she wrote and A and an i. It was very cool to see and she was really excited. We are working on s at the moment, but that one is a little tricky. We have also moved on from her obsession with Aladdin to a new obsession Peter Pan.

Easter and Festivals

We have been busy as usual and of course, sick as usual. But in between being sick we managed to celebrate Easter and hit the Scandinavian fair. Easter was a fun day at Aunt Lea and Uncle Chris' house, complete with an egg hunt and yummy lunch. We didn't get to see Brian's family on Easter day this year, since the day before we celebrated Baby Shawn's first birthday at Grammy's house. Of course, the Easter Bunny made a stop at Grammy's house and the kids got some Easter surprises there too. Aisling really liked Easter this year and was very excited that the Easter Bunny came to her own house and left an egg in her room. She loved searching the house for the eggs and is still playing with them. Xander liked playing with the eggs too.

We also went to the Scandinavian fair last weekend and had some aebel Skeevers and Lefse, yummmm.... They had lots of little crafts for the kids to do and Aisling had a great time at all of the little craft stations.

So here are the pics.

Aunt Joan and Aisling hunting for eggs.

Xander watching all the other big kids hunt for eggs. Next year little guy....

Xander gets to play with an egg, but only for 2 seconds till he realizes he is on grass, which he can't stand and then starts to scream.

Aisling showing Grandma B and Grandma Petal her loot.

Brian playing Nintendo DS with the kids.

Aisling with her flower head wreath that she helped make at the Scandinavian fair.

Xander eating his first aebel skeever. Of course, he will have to wait to New Years to get the good ones dear old mom makes.

Aisling Turns 3

Ais turned 3 on Friday. I can't believe she is 3, it is amazing how fast it has gone and how much she has grown and learned in 3 years. She is quite the character these days and loves to draw and color. She loves doing projects and has a really long attention span when she is into something. She is a somersaulting, Whole new World Singing, cute as can be 3 year old. She still keeps me really busy, but it is so fun and spunky. She is great at helping with Xander and loves to make him laugh. She is overall doing amazing. We just got back from the Doc too and she is healthy as can be. She is 37 inches tall and 34 pounds.

To celebrate her birthday we had a Tinkerbell birthday party at the park with some family and friends. Grammy made adorable fairy costumes for the girls and pirate hats and vests for the boys. They all looked so sweet. I made my first birthday cake for her and she blew out all the candles all on her own. Anyway, here are some pics from the party. There are lots more on the photobucket site.
