Summer time

Few it has been a while since I updated this thing. We have been busy with Summer fun, summer colds and summer house maintenance in the form of a new a/c and water heater. The kids are doing great and having lots of fun. Now that Xander is walking it seems easier to get out and see the world. Plus there have been lots of fun events over the past few weeks. And since Xander is about to wake up from nap any second I shall try and put down as much as possible as fast as possible.

Xander is nearly 14 months old now. He is walking everywhere and even likes to practice running from time to time. He has 2 new teeth, his top molars which puts the count up to 10. He is still a cuddle bug and now has added his little blue blanket to the cuddling routine. He is sleeping well in Aisling's room now and is doing great with that. He loves to eat, but mostly carbs. He likes all fruit, will eat peas and green beans, but if it were up to him the world would be one big piece of bread. He isn't really into meats or dairy, but will eat any pasta or cracker that comes his way. He says "dis. dis" anytime he wants something. It is his little word he uses all the time. He also signs "more" all the time which is rather confusing cause I don't know what he wants more of half the time. He is really good at letting you know what he wants or doesn't want. He shakes his little head "no" really good. He loves to dance and clap his hands whenever he hears music. He loves It's a Small World song. He loves loves loves animals, which just thrills me. At the zoo he was trying to reach for all the animals and cried when we left an exhibit. He has just started to pretend to talk on the phone which is so cute. He is really into mimicking and will brush his hair and try to put on his shoes if he sees us doing it. He doesn't really like brushing his teeth unless I let him hold the brush and I basically just wiggle it around in his mouth as best I can. He is still into everything and loves to open and close doors, drawers, cabinets, boxes, really anything. He has started to throw little temper tantrums too, which are actually so cute it is hard not to laugh even though he is so upset. He screams and then slowly lowers himself to the floor lays down and cries. It is just so funny cause it is in slow motion.

Aisling is about to start preschool in a month. She is really excited and can't wait to paint. She will be in room 1 and will be starting the first week in September. She is really becoming quite the little kid. The things she says sometimes is amazing to me. She will still pronounces some things wrong which makes it even better. She will say "Leave me along, I need some space" or "I carry you" when she wants us to hold her. She loves playing with play doh and coloring. She has just started to ask to play in her room by herself during the day which is so nice. She doesn't get to "nap" in her room anymore since Xander is in there so I think she misses her room. She loves her swim class even though Miss Natalie is no longer her teacher. We had a really big scare with her while we were at the Fair. She wandered away, it happened in an instant and we couldn't find her. It was only for about a minute, but It was so scary. She is also in the big "Why" stage. Questions, questions questions... It is fun and cute most the time until about the 15th Why, because why, why....

Here are some pics from the last few weeks.

Aisling at our first beach trip. I took them myself a few weeks ago. Aisling was cold, hated the sand and was terrified of the water for the first hour or so, but then she eased up and had fun playing in the sand just in time for us to have to leave.

Xander at his first trip ever to the beach. He loved it. He played in the sand for a long time. It was everywhere. He liked putting his feet in the water too.

Of course there has been lots of swimming too. Xander is another little water baby.

Ais, Xander and I also went to the zoo. It was really fun and the kids both loved the animals.

Then there was a trip to Grandma Petals for lunch with Grandma Petal and Aunt joan. Ais had chocolate chip pancakes, her favorite, followed by a trip to the ice cream parlor for ice cream and sprinkles at Grandma Petal's place.

Here the "kids" are after an evening trip to Disneyland to see the electric parade and fireworks. Both the kids love the parade and Xander was jumping up and down and dancing all over the place.

Ais with her new Chipmunk friend.

Xander at the petting zoo at the OC fair. He loves animals and was so excited that he could touch them. He was smiling the whole time. I think he would have climbed onto the goat and gone for a ride if we would have let him.

Aisling on her very first pony ride. She loved it and was so happy from the second she got on the horse.

A family pic at the Fair.
