Cheesecake dreams

We went to Cheesecake Factory with Becca, Aunt Joan and Great Grandma Kettle. I tried to refrain from eating dairy, but I just caved under the pressure of fried macaroni and cheese and pineapple upside down cheesecake. It is my favorite restaurant and all my willpower just wilted. But the good news is that Aisling was fine after being bombarded with all that dairy. So I am officially declaring that dairy is back on the menu. I am still going to try not to overdose, but at least I know that a slice of cheddar here and there isn't going to cause my sweet cherub any discomfort. It was a long 3 months but we made it.

You take the good with the bad and the bad in this case is a serious deterioration in her sleeping habits. For the last week she has been waking up every two hours and nursing for nearly 45 minutes. I feel like I have a newborn again. In addition to that she has been super fussy during the day, she screams when you try to cradle her and she won't let me put her down. Needless to say I am exhausted and feeling a little frustrated. I think she is gowing through a growth spurt, which hopefully she will get through soon so I can go back to feeling human again. Last night was particularly rough as we lost power for a few hours. It was so hot, but luckily it went back on before we headed to bed. Little Aisling slept through the whole thing thank goodness. I think she is adjusting to the fact that we are in California and it gets really hot in Burbank.

Week 11

We had a busy and fun week. Aisling really loves being out and about. She gets fussy if we are home all day, but is happy as can be out in the real would. This week we went to Island's for lunch with my friend Tina. I am used to going to lunch with her and her little guys so it was fun to swap roles and get to share fries, but this time I was one handed.

Yesterday was Yoga day. I got a spot that was a little too close to the speakers and Aisling kind of lost it when Gurmukh turned up the music. She chilled out after we moved back a few feet and really enjoyed the baby yoga part of the class. She loves the stretching, especially anything with her legs. I am so sore today though, too many squats.

Today we went to Pink's to celebrate my birthday. The dairy products are slowly making their way back on the menu (and there are no calories on birthdays) so I decided to celebrate the good old fashioned way with a sinfully greasy chili cheese dog. Brian and Doug tried to teach Aisling how to dip an onion ring in ranch. Don't worry no baby's digestive systems were harmed on the visit. She merely held the ring and then Brian ate it out of her hand.

She is starting to like Tummy time now. She even chuckled yesterday during it. She has officially rolled from tummy to back and from her back to her side. She is still working on rolling all the way from her back to her tummy. She is so strong. She is really fun to interact with now too. She laughs and talks when I sing to her, is grabbing her toys and starting to put things in her mouth when she can maneuver them in there. I love this mommy thing more and more every day. It is amazing to see her grow and master new skills. I can't wait to see what is next.

Daddy Day

Today we celebrated Brian's first father's day. We went to the aquarium in Long Beach for a BBQ. We have been going with Brian's Dad and family for the last few years so it was extra fun to have Brian become part of the tradition on the Dad side. He even got a free mug and complimentary beer. It was a blast. We ate lots and joined the rest of the stroller brigade for a trip through the aquarium. Aisling loved looking at the fishies. She sat in the Bjorn and just stared, of course she got a bit overstimulated and passed out after the second tank, but she had fun while it lasted. And of course there was a trip to the gift shop where Grammy and Grandpa picked up her first Aquarium souvenir. She got a cute purple seahorse. Then we walked to shoreline village, hit the candy barron for some taffy and then headed home. It was a great day that went too fast.

She is also doing really good with Tummy Time now that she is 11 weeks old. She held up her head and chest to watch game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals for a good few minutes. It was very impressive. She is really cracking herself up now too with her toys. She has another favorite we call Ruff Ruff. A really cute dog with all sorts of fun baby things on it. She laughs hysterically when he appears. She is grabbing for things now too. She holds the bottle when I feed her and she is swiping at objects that come close to her.

DreamWorks

We checked out the competition today with a visit to Dreamworks. We joined Rhiannon (her baby on board "TBD") and Michael today for lunch at Dreamworks (The other Animation studio in town). It is funny to think that my 2 month old has already visited 2 studios. Yep, she is a Hollywood baby. It was pretty hot, about 106 today in Burbank and baby freaked out. She was so sweaty and miserable. We moved inside and she perked up and then conked out as we strolled around the studio. She is definitely hot blooded like her Daddy. Last night she was a sweaty mess too. She only became happy when we stripped her down to her diaper and put the A/C on max. I feel like I am in an Igloo with these two toasters I live with. Ah well, as long as they are both happy then I am happy.

She has another favorite toy. The Remote. Dad is so proud. :)

Show and Tell

Today we visited Grandma B's class for show and tell. All the kids were pretty excited to see the baby and had lots of questions and some pretty interesting comments. Apparently one kid named Wyatt was born with an extra thumb that he is very proud of. He even showed me the scar and wanted to know if I wanted to touch the spot where his extra thumb had been, Ewwwwww!!!!!!

A day of firsts

We had some fun and exciting firsts this weekend. Yesterday, while celebrating father's day early with Grandpa and Grandma B, Aisling had her first run in with a bonnet (courtesy of Grandma B), and probably her last, she didn't take to it too well. Last night she slept for almost 7 hours, it was glorious to wake up and not still be tired.

Today Aisling discovered that her hands and feet belong to her and she spent a good chunk of the day staring at them and bonking herself in the head and nose as she brought her hand in for a closer look. Also, while Daddy was playing with her, she had an official full blown laugh today. It was so adorable and super girly, I can't wait to hear it again.

I had a first of my own this weekend too, I wore pants that button and have a zipper for the first time in about 7 months. Yep, I finally fit back into my pre-pregnancy pants again. Yippee. It was pretty exciting for me, but now it means I need to be careful to check my zipper before I leave the ladies room. It has been so long since I had to worry about that, I sure hope I don't forget.

I love toys

Aisling is really starting to have fun with her toys. She has been playing regularly with Minnie and cracks up every time she appears. She likes her blue elephant that hangs on her infant carrier and her new best bud is Sir Turtle. She is just starting to reach for things now and even gave Sir Turtle a hug. She sill loves to stare at light fixtures and fans too. She thinks they are hilarious.

We have also been working on getting her to take naps in her playpen and we have had some successful naps in them. It is weird for me to be home and have her be asleep while I am not holding her. She has been reluctant to nap unless I held her up until this point so I consider this a huge break through. Now if I can just get her to like her sling and the "Dance Baby Dance" workout tape I was so excited to do with her I will be set.

Work Visit

We took Aisling to visit all the crazy people at work today. We arrived around 10:30 and didn't leave till nearly 3. We made the rounds and introduced her to the gang. We also took her to the lot for the "Cars" lot event, which was a little lack-luster. Brian, Aisling and I had a nice lunch at the commissary and then we wandered around the lot for Aisling's first studio tour.

It was weird being back at work. It kind of reminded me of driving by school during summer break. The reality that I will have to go back there soon was pretty hard to ignore and I was a little bummed that night. I guess it is inevitable though and I still have a couple of months to savor every second of time with her.

Swimming

Aisling had her first adventure in the pool yesterday. It was one of the things I had been dreaming of doing with her since I found out I was pregnant. I always had such fun at pool time and I am excited to introduce it to my hopeful "water baby". She did really well too, she posed for about a million photos, bobbed around the pool with Mommy and Daddy and then spit up in the pool, I guess you can't cover both ends. Ah well, the chlorine will take care of that. She seemed to like it as best I can tell, I guess she had been swimming for 9 months so what's a few more minutes? I can't wait to take her again.

She also stayed with Grammy Sue and Grandpa Terry while Mommy and Daddy geeked out at Xmen3. It was fun to see a movie again and I only thought of her about 800 times, per minute. We all did good with the separation, sometimes I think it is easier for her than it is for her parents.

She is 9 weeks old tomorrow, which is pretty amazing to me. It seems to have gone so fast already. She really likes her toys now and smiles at her Minnie Mouse ball and lue elephant that swings around on her infant carrier. The fan also makes her smile as do light fixtures in general. She is talking more and more now too. The head is almost under control and she is getting stronger holding up her top half when I hold her on my shoulder.

Baby Yogi

We went to our first yoga class today. Aisling did really well. She was a little overwhelmed at first by all the babies, people and noise and she wouldn't let me put her down. It was also really hot so I had to change her and after a while, she relaxed and by the end of wheels on the bus, she was doing just fine. She really liked doing the baby yoga stuff. Basically we would just move them side to side or circle their legs and stuff like that. At the end we all danced around with the babies. I didn't mind it now that I didn't have to dance on my own. It isn't so silly when you have a baby then when you are just pregnant. She was pretty overstimulated and sleepy by the end of class and she conked out as soon as she hit the carseat.
