One month old

Can you believe Xander is one month old already? He is starting to smile alot more and really likes it when you kiss his cheeks. He holds his head up almost perfectly now and he likes sitting up and standing as much as he can. He also really likes to be in the wrap. He generally falls right to sleep in it. He likes hanging out on the floor and even likes tummy time. Last night he slept pretty good too. He doesn't like to be put down for naps during the day, but has been doing good in his cosleeper at night.

It is my first week home alone and so far it has been challenging, but been good. I took the kids out on my own for the first time. It was just to Target, but it was still an accomplishment for me. Aisling had a rough day today and had 3 time outs within 30 minutes. I think she is struggling with her new place in the family and misses Daddy now that he is back at work. It was my first Oh Geez moment. I feel bad for her as I know it is a hard transition, but I know she will adjust and it will all work out eventually.

Anyway, I am tuckered and need more sleep so more updates to come soon.

Pictures below as well as on the photobucket site.

Father's Day

Brian got to celebrate his first Father's day as a Daddy of 2. We had a really nice weekend, visiting with my folks on Saturday and with Brian's family on Sunday. On Sunday we had breakfast at one of our favorite restaurants Granville's. Then we took a trip down to the OC for a dip in Grammy and Grandpa's pool. Grandpa brought out the Kayak and Ais had fun riding it in the pool. She called it the Jungle Boat.

Today we took a hike through Fern Dell. This really cool place in Griffith Park with a stream and lots of ferns, plus a really neat little cafe at the end of the trail. We heard about it this weekend from Brian's folks. It was really fun to be out and about with our little family. Xander was fussing in the stroller so I put him in the wrap where he fell asleep instantly (as he usually does) and off we went. It was really fun.

As for the kids. They are doing great. Aisling is still a great big sister although the novelty of baby Alex is wearing off as she isn't so eager to help with diaper changes and getting things anymore. She still is a great big sister and is always checking on him to make sure he is doing good. She is singing all the time now too and is currently into The Tiki Room song from Disneyland. She is a regular chatter box these days and is always cracking us up.

Xander is doing great too. He is getting really good at holding up his head. He also likes to try to stand and is really strong when he pushes with his legs. He loves sitting up and just chilling. He kind of has a love/hate relationship with his bippy at the moment. Sometimes he devours it, other times it just ticks him off. I think he really wants to suck his thumb, but just can't control his hands enough to get it in there. We have seen a few sweet smiles too. They are pretty dang cute with his big dimples. He is eating nearly every 3 hours around the clock. I am still loving having a new baby too. I am really tired and have a bit of a cold, but he is just so sweet. I love my baby boy and my little Miss.

2 week Dr Visit

Xander had his 2 week checkup today. He is doing great and in perfect health. The big guy is measuring in the 95th percentile for height and weight. He is now 10 lbs 11 ounces and 22 1/2 inches tall. Pretty good growth spurt for being only 2 weeks old. At least I know that milk is going somewhere.

Newborn love

Having a newborn again is so much fun, yes I am pretty tired all the time, but it is so sweet to have this little guy in our lives. I love all the little grunts and noises. I love how he snorts when he cries and how if you pick him up when he is crying and he is being dramatic he lets out this little wail just as you are picking him up. I love the little face he makes when he is stretching when he is waking up. I love the milk coma he is in after he eats. I love holding onto his little clenched up hands. I love when I am holding him on my shoulder and he tries to eat my face when he is ready to nurse. Oh, there are so many sweet things.........

His cord fell off a couple of days ago. He is growing up so fast.... :)

Here are some pics of big sis and Xander. She really loves him and wants to help with everything. She has had a few temper tantrums and even had her first time out for hitting, but for the most part she is doing good with the transition. All her baby dolls are now named baby Alex too, which is pretty cute since they are all girl babies.

I added more pictures from the day of his birth on the photobucket site too.......
