Our little Bruin

We just got back from our consultation with the midwives and we are so happy and excited. So it looks like I will be having this baby at the UCLA Medical center. Yes, my daughter will be born on the UCLA campus. I can hear Becca laughing (or is that cheering) already. It is fine with me, they really seem great. They answered all of my questions (half of which before I even asked them) with exactly what I was hoping to hear. They believe that pregnancy and childbirth are natural events and will let me be a partner in my care so I can have the birth experience I want for me and my baby. I am very relieved to have found them. Now the only hard part is that I really need to start watching what I eat as nutrition is very important to them. It will be a struggle, but I know they are right so I may have to ease off the chocolate a bit. So sad!!!!

We have one last Dr. appointment tomorrow with my current obstetrician, but then I will be switching over to the midwives for the rest of my care and for the delivery.

The feast

We had a lovely Thanksgiving this weekend. I ate too much as usual. However, this year I had a baby fighting for real estate with the stuffing and pumpkin pie. I could hardly breath by the end of the night. I think Aisling has been trying to burn off the extra calories the last few nights too. She has been kicking up a storm. She even managed to kick Brian in the nose when he was talking to her through my belly. She is definitely getting stronger as her kicks are a lot more intense. I really love them though. I think it is the first real joy of pregnancy that I have felt. It is a nice reminder that there is a new little soul in there. I can't wait to meet her.

This week will be a busy one as well. We are meeting with a group of midwives who deliver at UCLA medical center. I hope they are good as I am really not all that thrilled with my Doctor's plans for the delivery. Thursday is our 6 month check up with our current doctor. I am a little worried about hoping on the scale. Now that I am eating again and with the holiday I think I may have gained too much. Ah well, what can you do?

My Little Kick Boxer

We've had a pretty good weekend. We did Yoga on Saturday with Ingrid and Fintan and boy are my legs sore. The session included lots and lots of squats and leg work. It sure makes hiking up two flights of stairs in our new place a lot harder. Owwww.... Curse you tri-level!!!! :)

Our big event for the weekend happened last night when during Aisling's normal evening sparring session with my bladder and stomach, Brian felt her kick. It was very exciting for all of us, but particularly for Brian. There really is someone in there......

Half way there

Today marks 20 weeks and we are halfway to the big day. We had a checkup yesterday and baby looks great. My record month of not gaining weight was quickly replaced with a new record of gaining weight. I better lay off the sweets.

This weekend we are off to 2 baby showers for Kathy and Ingrid. So many of my friends are having babies right now so we have an overlap in the shower schedule. Ah well, it was a good excuse to hit babies R Us. We were sucked in and ended up spending 2 hours there. Phew!!! There are lots of goodies to buy for baby. We ordered her crib and dresser too. Soon she will have nicer furniture than us.

We just got back from seeing Chicken Little with my mom's school kids. They all seemed to like it. Brian and I were also happy to see the vinyl Chicken Little's statues that we painted were on display at the El Capitan. Brian's is atari themed and I did a chicken pox theme. We are both hoping the film does good this week. So everyone go see it if you can. :)
