The position has been filled

One more week left until I go back to work . We have finally found a nanny too. Her name is Norma and she is awesome. I think Aisling and her are going to have a great time together.

This week was fun and busy as usual. Monday I took Aisling to her first movie. We saw Me, You and Dupree at a Mommy Movie showing at the Paseo in Pasadena. The movie was pretty bad, but it was a fun experience. She loved looking at the other babies and watching the movie here and there. I even changed her diaper at the table the theater provided in a corner of the theater. It was really fun and I wish I woud have heard about these screenings earlier.

On Tuesday we went to Yoga, probably our last Mommy and Me class for a while and Aisling rolled over from her back to her tummy for the first time. She was so proud and looked around to see if everyone had noticed what she had done. She is gong to be sitting up and crawling in no time.

Wednesday we had nanny interviews where we met Nanny Norma. Aisling seemed to like her right away. More to come on that when I have some more time.

Thursday we went to the outlet mall to buy Mommy some back to work clothes. Grammy Sue went with us and spoiled us both rotten. We had a good time and chatted away the afternoon as we shuttled between stores and then had lunch back in Burbank.

Friday Aisling was a little sick. She had a rough night and was coughing and sneezing so I kept her home most of the day. It is her first cold and she seemed to handle it ok, probably better than I did. We went to Whole Foods to get some California Baby products that help relieve colds. She seems to be feeling better now.

Saturday was Daddy/baby day. I did some more work on the wedding and Daddy played with her most of the day. He has a cold now too. Here we go with sharing the colds throughout the family.

Today we went to see Pirates while Grammy Sue watched the baby. The movie was awesome and Aisling always has fun with Grammy. She even got her to sleep in her crib, I still need to find out her secret and master that trick. Then it was the summer birthday extravaganza at Aunt Angie and Uncle Alex's. It was a blast as usual. We always have fun with the family and Aisling met her Aunt Cheryl for the first time too. She was pretty tired from all the fun at the party and slept the whole way home.

Now I am off to start preparing for a busy and probably very emotional filled week.

Yum Nun's

This week was another get out and go one.

We went to visit Daddy at work on Monday. Aisling got a tour of the back lot of the studios on the way to the commissary. She really liked all the set pieces from Pirates. She thought the barnacles were a nice touch. Then Daddy took her back to the office where she learned all about storyreels and layout. She is the littlest layout artist you know.

Tuesday was Yoga day. She wigged out big time at the end of class. She was so tired and overstimulated. She cried for almost 10 minutes straight. I couldn't put her in her car seat or lay or down to get the wrap on so I just had to hold her until I could wrangle her into the seat and deposit the bippy ASAP. On Wednesday we helped Grandma and grandpa B finish off their move. Aisling spent the day charming Nana and Grammy Sue.

Thursday we met up with Jake and Kathy for lunch and a stroll around the mall. We are trying to see them as much as possible before they leave for Texas. We are going to miss them both so much,

Friday we ran errands. We dropped off a huge load of clothes at the good will and then hit the Target for laundry detergent and the obligatory trek through the baby aisles. I got her these cute links that she loves. Then I went out to dinner with the girls. It was my first time out past 7 pm in ages.

Saturday Daddy watched Aisling most of the morning while I worked on editing the wedding we just shot. Then it was a lunch time trip to Nun's our favorite Thai hole in the wall restaurant. The owners who we call "mom" and "dad" loved Aisling. Mom held her while we ate and played with her in the mirror. Dad took her picture with his camera phone and then showed us Fintan's picture that he had taken with his phone too. So cute, they were so excited to see her. The cashew chicken was Amazing as always by the way. Then it was off to Lowe's to get a new door. It was so hot out. It must have been 120 literally. Our skin was stinging just from the sun. So after we ordered the door we went to Baskin Robbins for a cool treat. Yum!!! I am so glad I can eat dairy again.

Today we went to Golden Bridge for a lecture on children's health which was pretty good. We also had a reality star sighting as one of the guys in the class was the winner of last season's Hell's Kitchen. Brian and I thought it was pretty cool since we are both reality TV junkies.

Aisling also discovered the joys of the rubber ducky and splashing in the tub. It is so cute hoe she kicks and gets so excited.

Dr. Visit and more

This week was another busy one. Lots of running around and big events.

Thursday we went to the pediatrician for a checkup. Aisling is now 15 pounds and 25 inches. She is growing great and the Dr. said she was very intelligent and strong. She was a little confused by the tongue depressor, but handled the visit in stride. She also had a good time staring at the baby in the mirror. She is really getting good with her hands now too. She can get her toys into her mouth now and grab things and hold onto them for a while. She learns a new trick every day it seems.

Becca came for a visit on Wednesday. It is always fun to hang out with her and baby had fun and even took 2 naps with Bec holding her. We went out to Island's for our first dinner out at a restaurant. We have only done lunches up until now. She did good as usual, I even got to eat my entire meal warm. Of course, Daddy helped and I took over after a little while. I am getting good at eating one handed.

Another big event took place on Thursday. We interviewed our first prospective nanny Elizabeth. The interview went well and we really liked her, we are going to meet some more next week too. It was pretty emotional for me. I managed to hold it together during the interview, but was pretty much a basket case before and for a long time after as well. It didn't help that Aisling has a new quirk where she screams bloody murder when she realizes that someone else is holding her. She did pretty good with the nanny for a while, and then cried. It was so heart breaking. She also did this with Becca and Roberta as well so I know it wasn't just the nanny. I think she has realized that there are other people in the world besides Mommy and Daddy.

Friday we had no power again. At least they warned us on Thursday and I was able to send my milk supply to Roberta's house for storage. I know we are good friends when she is keeping milk for me. Kind of weird, but I wasn't about to loose another batch of milk this close to going back to work. Aisling and I went to the mall to buy me an outfit for the baby shower I was helping to host for Rhiannon. Of course, there were a few stops at the baby clothes stores and I had to buy these cute pants on sale at Baby Gap for her. I am addicted to buying her clothes. We also met Brian for lunch at the food court. Aisling loved it there. She loves to people watch.

Yesterday was baby shower day for our good friend Rhiannon. I was helping out most the day so Brian took Aisling out for Father/Daughter day. He drove down to the OC to have lunch with Nana, Aunt Angie and Uncle Alex. It was his first day out with her on his own and I think he did really well. Of course, he didn't realize she was still in only a onesie until he was at lunch. Ah well, Daddies can get away with such things. I think they both had a great time together.

And finally, today Ingrid, Mark and Fintan came over for a BBQ and some pool time fun. It was Fintan's first time in the pool and he did really well. The water was a bit chilly so it took him and Aisling a little time to adjust, but they eventually both made it in and took turns riding in the turtle float. Fintan kept trying to eat him. He is such a big guy and it is amazing to see all his new tricks. He can sit up and grab his toys and is a full blown baby with a big personality.

We also went to Aaron Brothers today to take advantage of the penny sale and finally get some pictures up on our walls. Brian was really excited to take Aisling to her first art store. She had fun looking at all the colors and supplies.

Super Blog 06

Phew!!! It has been a busy week. So hang on this is going to be a long one and in no particular order.

Let's start with the 4th of July. We had a really fun day over at Grammy Sue's and Grandpa Terry's. There was fun pool play and lot's of good eats. Aisling was in the pool for a longer time this time and didn't fuss much at all. I think she is starting to really like it. I think it also helped that the pool was so warm and comfy. It felt like a huge bath. Grammy and Grandpa bought her a new pool toy too. It is the cutest little float that has a sun shade on it. She really liked it and was able to almost sit up in it. Grandpa Terry also brought his water toy into the pool and Aisling got her first ride in the Honu kayak. I never thought paddling a kayak in a pool could be so much fun but it was hysterical and really entertaining. The rest of the family joined us in the late afternoon for a yummy BBQ complete with marshmallows and strawberry shortcake. Then we headed home and she was asleep before the first boom of the fireworks from the starlight bowl.

We also had visitors from Vegas. Tara and Scott and their 5 children came to visit us for the day. We got to meet Cailyn the newest edition born on May 17th. She was so itty bitty and adorable. Unfortunately that same day we had a power outage from 6 am to 8:30pm and it was 100 degrees, It was a long hot day, but we still had fun. In the evening we all trekked up to the clubhouse pool for some fun and climate control in the water. The kids had a great time playing with Brian and Tara and I got to catch up. The kids grow so fast and I don't get to see them so often so it is always a special treat to visit with them. It's the first time we have had kids in common and it is really cool to talk and compare notes.

Back to the power outage. Because it was so hot and the power was out for so long, I lost about 80 ounces of pumped milk. Milk I was saving for use on Saturday the 8th when Brian and I were scheduled to shoot a wedding. It was a huge tragedy for me. That stuff is like gold and now I was back to square one. I pumped like a mad woman and even bought formula just in case. Of course, she hardly put a dent in the milk I left her. At least now I have a jump on the milk storage thing for when I go back to work.

As mentioned previously, Brian and I shot a wedding on Saturday. It was outdoors at Caltech in the Athenuem. It was a gorgeous courtyard and just a beautiful wedding. The heat was hard to deal with while lugging around all the gear and cameras, but we survived and although we were exhausted the footage looked great. Aisling stayed with Grammy Sue for the day. It was my longest time apart from her yet and it went well, but was still hard. I missed her so much. There was a little baby at the ceremony and I would get a little homesick for her when I would see her. Plus the bride's Mom gave this beautiful speech and there was a part about babies and I had to keep from balling. Just a taste of what it will be like to go back to work.

And as if the above events weren't enough to keep us super busy, my parents were moving on top of it all. Mike came into town to help with the move too. Poor guy had to do most the work while I cared for little Aisling. I was at least able to do a few boxes and provide space in my car to shuttle it to their new place. We did squeeze in a few moments to visit with the folks during the move too. We were at their new place on Sunday as well for my Mom's birthday. Aisling was of course the star of the show and had fun showing Grandma B all the new things she has learned. She also discovered herself in the mirror during the trip and was cracking herself up.

So there you have it. Just a brief overview of what has been going on. I feel like I have just run a marathon. At least Aisling has gotten through her growth spurt and is sleeping better. I don't know how I would have survived last week if she was still feeding every 2 hours at night. She has been an angel for the last few days and I am so happy again. I just love her more and more every day!!!!!

Happiest Baby on Earth

We took Aisling to Disneyland for the first time today. The only ride we went on was the tram, but we did manage to get our picture taken in front of the castle. We tried to get on Small World, but it was closed and it was too far, hot and crowded to shlep all the way over to Whinnie the Pooh so we just took our picture, visited the baby center for some nursing and a diaper change and then headed out. It was super fun anyway. It was the first trip of many to come. She was exhausted after our long day and crashed on daddy's shoulder while waiting for the tram.

All of this was in addition to our original destination of going to see Superman at Downtown Disney. My cousin Becca, who Aisling just loves, volunteered to watch the baby so we could geek out with a super hero flick. So we saw the film while Bec entertained baby and then hit the park and finished up with a stop at Rainforest Cafe, where she was pretty astonished during the rainstorm, as seen in the picture of me holding her. She didn't cry, but her eyes were as wide as dinner plates. Oh yeah and of course it was mandatory to visit World of Disney on the way out.

Aisling was a super baby all day long. She just loves watching all the people and is content to just take everything in. She only really fussed when she was hungry or needed to go back in the stroller of doom.
