Yummmmm

Aisling had her first real food (aside from cereal) this weekend. On Sunday we mashed up some avocado, she is a Californian after all, and gave Ais her first real bite of solid food. She looked really confused and then jumped and made the funniest face. I don't know if she liked it or not. She kept eating it when I gave her another spoonful, but kept making icky faces too. By the end of the meal she was covered in green goo. I washed her off, but I kept finding traces of it the rest of the day. And at dinner with Grandma and Grandpa B, I gave her a little bit of Avocado from my egg roll. Her first table food at a restaurant. She sat in the high chair again, this time she had the Floppy seat with her. I love the Floppy. I can attach her toys right to it, since she loves to throw them to the ground repeatedly. Plus with the Floppy there is less chance of her falling out and it is nice and padded so when she throws herself backwards to look up at the fans and lights she won't bonk her head too much.

She moved to the big tub now too. She is in this cute little inflatable tub that fits in our grown up tub. We also started to baby proof the house as I expect her to start crawling any day now. She is getting so active and is a bundle of personality. She has this new cute thing she does where she raises her arm and slaps her side over and over again. It is so cute.

We also went to Disneyland on Saturday. We spent a leisurely day there, baby center, napping and one ride. We went on Whinnie the Pooh and she seemed to like it. We met Brian's friend Eric too. He works as an artist on Mainstreet and Aisling really seemed to like him. We have discovered that she likes boys. She's a big flirt.

In the afternoon we visited Cafe Orleans for a nice sit down meal comprised of Monte Cristo sandwiches. The waitress tried to give Aisling a fry. I had to convince her that Ais was only 5 3/4 months old and probably not ready for Garlic fries with Creole sauce. They gave her her first kids menu too, which turned into a cute Pirate hat. She was the star of the restaurant and everyone was smiling and laughing at our wee Jack Sparrow.

Uncle Fun

Uncle Mike came down for a visit on Wednesday. Aisling still loves her Uncle Mike. He had her laughing all over the place. She really liked to watch him juggle with her balls from her exersaucer. Peek-a-boo was also a big hit, and he taught her a new game of bonking heads. It was really cute.

We all took her out for lunch at Hank Hill cafe down the street. She sat in the restaurant high chair for the first time. She was so proud and excited, she felt like such a big girl. She had fun throwing her links on the floor from her new perch. She is growing up so fast.

At the Movies

We took Aisling to see "Cars" on Saturday night. It was a special screening put on at Disney Imagineering. They had a huge screen put up on the side of one of the buildings and an amazing and very loud sound system. Everyone brought their own chairs and blankets and you watched the movie outside.

They had a car show before the movie too. Aisling got to sit in Walt's limo, still smelled like cigarettes by the way. She also tried out an autopia car, the Wilbur time machine and posed for a picture in front of Herbie. It was a fun night. Aisling slept pretty well through the movie even though it was really loud, lots of car revving and crash sounds. The movie broke about an hour into it and they couldn't get it working so they fast forwarded to the last 10 minutes. It was fine with me cause the movie was a wee bit slow (too much Nascar) and it was getting late.

We got home and Aunt Joan was there. She had gone to a Dodger game and wanted to crash at our place instead of shlepping all the way back to Riverside. She brought Aisling a Dodger rally monkey. For those of you who don't know, there is a battle being waged for Aisling's baseball soul. Aunt Joan is lobbying for the Dodger's while Becca and Nana are out in force for the Angels. So the first stone has been cast by team Dodger. Brian and I don't really like baseball so whatever team wins is fine with us. I am just enjoying the drama of it all.

Aisling was pretty much a wreck on Sunday. The late night really messed up her schedule and she was pretty tired and cranky most of the day. Daddy got her to take a few naps which helped, by the afternoon she was feeling better. We had Nathan, Rhiannon, Michael and baby Arianwen out for a BBQ. It is always fun to get the girls together. Arianwen has gotten much bigger and is cute as can be. They are going to be great buds.

And it is official, Aisling is giving kisses now. After a few days of wondering if she was just trying to teeth on my face, this morning it was witnessed by Brian and we all agree she is giving kisses. This morning when she woke up, she grabbed both sides of my face and gave me a big sloppy baby kiss. It was wonderful. She loves me!!! Even after I went back to work. Yay!!!!!

Survivor

Last night we welcomed back Survivor. Yes we are reality TV junkies. Aisling couldn't wait to don her Survivor buff in honor of the occasion. She thinks this season is an interesting "social experiment".

Also, She is now sitting up in her bath. She also likes to turn off the water faucet. Sometimes she tries to eat her toes in the water which would be fine if she would lift her feet to her mouth instead of going face first for her toes which are under water. Yikes!!!

And I think she gave me a kiss the other day. Either that or she was trying to eat my face, which is probably more accurate a description, but I think I will keep believing it was a kiss. A much sweeter thought.

Dr Visit

We took Aisling to the Dr. today. She is happy and healthy and the Dr. says she is doing great and keep up the good work. Her new official stats are, drum roll please..... 18 pounds 1 ounce and 26 3/4 inches long.

She had the best time playing with the paper on the table. We'd stand her up and she would do her impersonation of an Irish jig. She thought the sound was the best. She wasn't too fond of the ear thermometer and she thought the tongue depressor tasted funny. But she was a model patient.

So now that she is 5 months old (and 1 week), it's time for another round of what Aisling likes and doesn't.

Likes:
1. Sitting up, or really doing anything that makes her feel like a big girl.
2. Eating Rice Cereal. Bring it on she says.
3. Sleeping with her new Pooh Bear that Norma bought her
4. Splashing all the water out of her bath
5. Daddy reading stories or making funny faces.
6. Exersaucer.. Weeeeee
7. Going to get the mail with Mommy in the wrap
8. Elmo, Fraggles and Roo
9. Grabbing anything that comes near her hands. Hair and glasses especially
10. Drinking from Mommy's glass or gnawing on a baby spoon

Dislikes:
1. Teething
2. Getting dressed after bath time
3. Naps and going to sleep in general
4. Loud noises like Zippers and ironing boards opening
5. Not being able to reach something or get it in her mouth
6. Sitting for too long at a restaurant
7. Ear thermometers
8. Clipping toe nails. Stop picking at me Mom
9. Having Mommy take away things she is not supposed to have
10. Being a baby. She wants to be a big girl

5 months old

Aisling turned 5 months old on Sunday. Boy has the time just flown by and has she ever grown. She is mastering all sorts of new tricks and is definitely letting us know what she wants. This weekend she learned to grab her toes and eat them. I think she is learning her name too. She actually turns around when you call her. Also, she loves sticking out her tongue as seen in the previous picture. She is teething like crazy now too. I think her teeth will pop through any day now. I hope so, the poor thing goes through some pretty miserable episodes of teething pain. We've been having feeding issues too, I think partly because of the frequent bottle feedings and the teething, plus she doesn't want to ever miss a thing so getting her to focus on eating can sometimes be hard and painful may I add.

We had our usual jam packed weekend. We went to breakfast on Saturday morning and Aisling was spilling things all over the place. Brian had to take her out while I ate and then we switched and he got to eat. Yep, we definitely have a baby.

Later we strapped her in her new car seat for an impromptu trip to Disneyland. She was just getting too big and too heavy for the little bucket infant carrier. So we bought this super cushy seat for her. She was shocked by the luxuriousness and then promptly fell asleep for the whole trip.

Disneyland was really fun with her this time. We took her to see Mickey for the first time. The line was really long and both Brian and I were getting more and more nervous as we got closer to the front. We had no idea how she would react.

She loved him. She instantly grabbed his nose and was really happy.

Next we took her on Small World. She was getting tired and hungry and the ride was really loud so she kind of freaked a little. Man that is a long ride with an unhappy baby. After the small world episode we took her to the baby center for a quick diaper change and snack. She would hardly eat because the coat rack on the wall was just fascinating. Then we headed out and went to Grammy Sue's to spend the night. She did pretty good once she settled in. I think her new Elmo toy helped too.

On Sunday we went on a shopping spree at Babies R Us. It is time to baby proof the house and I wanted to get her an exersaucer. Aisling picked out this cute Sesame Street play center. She sat in it and instantly started to spin all the cute gadgets. Turns out she doesn't like the Elmo and Cookie monster when they sing, I think it is too loud. She'll grow into that one, but she just loves all the other toys. She sat in it for over 30 minutes when I first put her in it.

The highlight of the trip to Babies R Us was at the Kiddie Kandids photographers. Grammy Sue suggested we get her pictures taken and since we were planning on doing it in a few weeks and she looked super cute in her overalls, we got them done. She laughed hysterically the whole time. She thought the girl taking her pictures was the funniest person in the world. She couldn't stop laughing, and neither could we. We had a hard time getting her to sit up because she kept laughing so hard she would fall over. She was laughing so loud and long she drew a crowd of onlookers. It was really entertaining and the pictures came out great!!! The rest are posted on the bottom of this blog.

On Monday we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa B for more labor day fun. We had a yummy BBQ and Aisling joined as at the table in her high chair and played with her sippy cup. (A feat she had also done the day before at Grammy Sue's and Grandpa Terry's). She played with her new frog that sings the alphabet song and a new bear from Uncle Mike that came all the way from Scotland. She had a few naps while there too. Her schedule was pretty much shot the whole weekend.

And here are the rest of the super cute baby pics!!!
